International Youth Day, as designated by the UN, is celebrated this week on Monday 12th August.

As proof that young people can make a big difference why not read Greta Thornberg’s inspirational book now available in the library.

Although only 16 years old, Greta has become internationally famous through her mission to highlight the dangers of climate change.

Appropriately, this week is also the first of the summer craft activities for our young people.

On Tuesday 13th the children at Jesmond Library will be crafting on the theme of Oceans.

These sessions always prove very popular.

All are welcome, no need to book. Children under 10 must be accompanied. Session runs from 10.30 to 12. Donations please.

If any of the children are inspired to find out more about oceans and the wildlife beneath the deep, our children’s reference section has many books they can explore.

And likewise, any adults who want to dive into our ocean of non-fiction books will find plenty there to satisfy their curiosity too.
