Tales around the campfire

This week on Wednesday 20th March it is World Storytelling Day

Before the advent of the printing press, before books were widely available, and certainly long before libraries were built, stories existed. Sitting round the campfire or family hearth, our early ancestors would share tales of mythical beasts and heroic exploits.

Stories that entertained, stories that educated, stories that thrilled.

Prizegiving Saturday 23rd, 5pm

Here at Jesmond Library we like to listen stories too.

Join us on Saturday 23rd March at 5pm as we announce the winners of our Creative Writing Competition “Heroes and Villains”.

We know our judges Jennifer Wilson  and Bea Charles have had a difficult time this year choosing the winners from amongst some truly wonderful entries.

At the prizegiving our winners will treat us to a reading of their entries.

Prepare to be entertained and thrilled!

Next week on the Blog we’ll introduce you to our winning writers!
