Winning poem – Haiku by Stephanie

As part of The National Year of Reading we asked our volunteers and supporters to join January’s challenge – to rewrite a book in the form of a poem.  Well done to all who took part.

The winning poem was written by Stephanie whose retelling of The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood in the form of a Haiku achieved the highest engagement numbers on both Facebook and X. Well done, Stephanie!

  • Distopian world:
  • Handmaids silently scheming
  • Gilead’s ruin

Here are some of the other #Book2Poems that we published on our social media platforms last month. We had a fascinating selection of Haikus and Limericks, Acrostics and parodies, free verse and rhyming verse, both serious and funny. Many thanks to Anne, Bea, Beryl, David, James, Jennifer, Pam, Penny and Steve for their contributions.
