Volunteer at Jesmond LibraryDid you know that 1st – 7th June is  Volunteers’ Week?

Jesmond Library is a charity run entirely by volunteers. This week we want to use the blog to say a big ‘thank you’ to them all, as without them the library could not continue.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Some are retired; some fit their volunteering duties around their day jobs. Amongst our number you will find (serving and retired) doctors, secretaries, lawyers, shop assistants, police officers, students, accountants, civil servants, writers, teachers, computer engineers, graphic artists, college lecturers – and yes, there are even one or two real-life librarians!

Become a member of Jesmond LibraryThere is no particular background that produces the ‘perfect volunteer’. Each individual brings with them a range of abilities, interests and experiences, all of which contribute to the management of this valued community resource.

But above all they are people who love Jesmond, who want to be part of the community, and who enjoy giving something back.
