The 2026 Teddy Bear Trail

This is the National Year of Reading, so this year’s Teddy Bear Trail took the theme of ‘Ted Loves Books’. Jez the Ted’s friends did not hold back! Thirty teddies took part with all of them taking on characters from favourite books.

Over 230 folk took on the Teddy Hunt challenge; a mixture of children, families and adults.   The money raised helps towards the running of your Library.

Your Favourite Bears

We asked all entrants to identify their favourite bear.  It was clear from the returned forms that all teddies had at least one fan!  However there was a clear winner:

First prize: ‘The Teddy who came for Tea’, #7, Newcastle High School for Girls

First Prize

Second prize: ‘Obearlix’ – #18, Chris and Meryl

Second Prize

Runner-up: ‘The Very Hungry Bear’ – #5, Jesmond Community Orchard

Runner-up

Thank you to our sponsors

We are very grateful to Symonds Taylor, Estate Agent for printing our forms; to Waitrose for donating our excellent prizes for the different age groups; to Awesome Franks for a generous Voucher; to Sainsbury’s for the favourite Bear Prizes and Tesco for the lovely Teddy Treats.

The Winning Teddy Hunters

Because of the generosity of our sponsors we are able to offer several prizes for the Favourite Teddies and winners, drawn from all completed forms. These were divided into age groups: 5 and under;  6-8; 9-12; 13+ (Adult). Volunteers on duty had the privilege of picking out the lucky ones!

  • 5 and under: James; Eadie & Ava
  • 6 – 8 years: April; Charlie
  • 9 – 12 years: Matthew
  • 13 + years: Eliza; Oana

A list of winners and all Teddies will be on display in the Library.

Thank you to all who have helped to make our Annual Teddy Bear Trail a happy, successful event.
