The play most certainly is the thing when the Play Reading Group meet on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm at Jesmond Library.

We average 8 or so members. Together we read play sets borrowed from the City Library. No acting is involved! As the title suggests we just read, with different members taking on particular roles.

It is a great way to hear a play script come to life.

We read many different authors from Alan Ayckbourn to Dylan Thomas, and all styles and genres, both drama and comedies. For example, in the past year we have read ‘The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie’, ‘Dial M for Murder’, ‘An Evening with Gary Lineker’ and ‘Blithe Spirit’.

There is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and includes a break for coffee and cake. We pay £2 each as a contribution for the use of the room.

Please feel free to join us. No prior booking is required – just turn up on a Tuesday evening and join the fun.
