Library user policy
We want Jesmond Library to be a place where everyone feels welcomed and safe while choosing books, using the computers, or joining an activity.
The Library is independent of the City Council and is run wholly by volunteers who have been trained in our procedures and policies and are expected to act towards you with courtesy and respect.
Please do:
- Treat our volunteers and other users of the library with courtesy and respect.
- Keep mobile phones on silent
- Keep food and drink to the refreshment area
Please don’t:
- Bring in animals, (except assistance dogs)
- Smoke or vape in the library or the area immediately outside the doors
- Bring drugs or alcohol into the library
- Take photographs without permission.
- Shout or behave in an anti-social manner
Children and Young People
All children under the age of 10 must always be accompanied by an adult, who will be responsible for their safety and behaviour whilst in the library.
