Thursday Talk – the Wars of the Roses in Northumberland 1461-4
Thursday January 22, 2026 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Military historian John Sadler tells the gripping story of 1461-4, when the deposed King Henry VI moved to Bamburgh, and as a result the Wars of the Roses came to Northumberland. There were two important pitched battles at Hexham and Hedgeley Moor (near Alnwick). The climax was the siege of Bamburgh, the first time that siege guns were used against an English castle.
