Thursday Talk Criminal Case: Golden Age Detective Fiction and the Country House
Thursday June 12 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Dr Stacy Gillis (Newcastle University) will discuss the place of the country house in the Golden Age detective story. First asking why do murders often happen in the country house in Golden Age English detective fiction, she then traces a longer history of the detective genre, which reaches back to its origins in such Gothic novels, which permits a reconfiguration of the country house as always having been a space of corruption, haunting and moral disruption.
