Friday 6th -Sunday 8th December @ Sage Gateshead

A new festival begins life at the Sage Gateshead in early December.

‘Words Weekend’ celebrates the power of words and stories curated by a selection of talks, readings, workshops and panel discussions. Many of these are free.

There are 60 events and 5 presentation spaces all within the Sage Gateshead.

The festival presents a cornucopia of poetry, comedy, politics, art and creative writing with well known Northeast and international guest speakers including Nadiya Hussain, David Olusoga, Terry Deary, Jay Rayner, Stacey Dooley, Ben Okri and Grayson Perry.

Included in the weekend is a live transmission by Margaret Attwood, a creative writing workshop with David Almond, a reading by Michael Morpurgo of his book ‘The Best Christmas Present’, a Seven Stories festive story writing workshop and an opportunity to hear the ‘Letters to the Grinch who stole Christmas’.

A busy weekend mirroring the serious and the humorous sides of our lives.

Booking is via the Sage Gateshead events website: sagegateshead.com/seasons/words-weekend-2019
