This week sees the return of The Hoppings to the Town Moor.
Claimed to be Europe’s largest funfair, The Hoppings has been a big part of Newcastle life since 1882.
To find out more about the history of this spectacle, take a look in the Local History section of Jesmond Library.
We’ve an impressive selection of books, maps, pamphlets and articles about all aspects of life here in the northeast – not limited to the Town Moor and The Hoppings.
In fact this area of the library is full of fascinating resources with information on wildlife, local schools, local heroes (and villains), industry, architecture and nostalgia.
You’ll find it well worth the time to browse through our collection.
Like The Hoppings – Jesmond Library is a big part of local life too!
